Connect about pain: The new Chronic Pain forum is live on PatientsLikeMe

Our members have been asking us for years for a place to discuss chronic pain on PatientsLikeMe. We heard you.

The new Chronic Pain forum is here, and it’s a place for members with any health condition(s) to connect on the topic of pain – from your treatment experiences to day-to-day living with recurring or long-lasting pain.

Here’s a little background about why we’ve created this new forum:

  • Pain is common among patients, and it’s one of the “core symptoms” that PatientsLikeMe asks members about.
  • In looking at how pain affects members of the PatientsLikeMe community, more than half of all patients who’ve reported the severity of their pain have rated it as “moderate or severe” (learn more about members’ experiences with pain here).
  • In the U.S., an estimated 25.3 million adults (11.2 percent) experience chronic pain, according to a 2015 National Institutes of Health report (which defines chronic pain as “pain every day for the preceding 3 months”).

  1. My daughter underwent surgery for herniated lumbar disc recently, and a second surgery and she is still in horrible pain. Finding out after-the-fact her doctor doesn’t have the best credentials. Killing me to see her suffer like this. She has strong medication to take, but is still suffering.

  2. Suffer 24/7 365. Peripheral Neuropathy, Fibromyalgia, Arthritis, Knee and shoulder replacements.
    Lyrica 90 a month, 200mg, HYDROCODONE-ACETAMINOPHEN 7.5-325, 180 PER MONTH, plus maintenance medications.
Just barely staying ahead of pain.Started 7 years ago!

  3. My life sucks. I am a combat wounded Veteran. 8 rods and screws in low back, DDD, Spinal stenosis, broad bulging disc, sciatica for 4 years. Spinal Cord Stimulator offers no relief. When docs had me on 30mg morphine sulfate 3 times daily andand 10 mg mg Oxycodone 3 times daily I could deal with it. Now, they cut me to 15mg morphine sulfate 3 times daily which offers little to no help. I’m 59 years old and feel my life is worthless. No quality of life at all. Only Pain doc will prescribe meds and the lower amount. I can’t take NSAIDs, Motrin, etc due to kidney failure 5 years ago due to a virus. Kidneys are normal now. I feel hopeless and with PTSD and now major depression. To be honest, I could care less if I live or die. Dead there would be no pain. New laws have totally forgotten us. Anyone feel the same? There’s just no hope. I have tried everything under the sun. Allergies to codeine and gabupentin.

  4. There is a new forum to discuss chronic pain. This can be a great place to connect with others who are going through the same thing. You can share your experiences and find out what has worked for other people.
